Provo

Just beyond the Bahamas and about 575 miles south-east of Miami, lies a string of islands known as the Turks & Caicos Islands. These islands make up some 40 cays and are mostly flat with very beautiful tropical beaches. The highest elevation is found on Grand Turk at only 163 feet. These islands were proclaimed as “Beautiful by Nature” by Christopher Columbus on his first voyage in search of the far east.

Providenciales, better known as Provo, is one of these beautiful islands which is 37.5 square miles big and is the focal point of the islands. With some of the most pristine beaches in the world stretching for miles this is the perfect place to relax.

The island has around 50 restaurants; many of which are located within walking distance or a short cab ride away. The surrounding cays as well as Grace Bay hosts some of the best scuba diving and snorkeling in the world. For the golf lovers there is a high class bird sanctuary 18 hole golf course. By the way, most charters and other planes will allow you to take sports equipment for free above and beyond the regular 2 suit case rule.

With great sailing, fishing, windsurfing and other water sports along with many secluded surrounding empty islands (cays) which are perfect for a getaway, Provo is an attractive place to take your next vacation.

Also,  JoJo, a friendly wild bottle-nosed dolphin has been frequenting Grace Bay for some 13 years. JoJo will typically follow the boats in and can often be seen swimming close to shore or in the wake of a boat.
